Updates

Alright so I haven't been doing my word of the day anymore but that doesn't mean I haven't been drawing, at least I've done that much :) Here are some of my favorite pages from the past couple weeks.

Lady at the doctors office, decided to make her a bit more zombie like than she already looked.

I'm proud of this page just because I was thinking compositionally and I think it looks nice.

Some continuous line drawing going on.

SF day

The other day I had the opportunity to go to San Francisco with my best friends.  We totally lucked out on the weather, it was a gorgeous day.  We were going to do a bunch of drawing and ended up walking instead but we did get to sit a Ghiradelli Square and draw the Golden Gate; totally froze my hand off but I got this small oil pastel drawing down.  I really like the oil pastels and just  laying down the bright colors, the way they layer is really nice too.  I want to definitely do more with them.

January 10th

I finally finished it!  It took 4 hours and two separate days but it's done, not the greatest but it's done.  It was actually way more difficult than I thought It was going to be.  The most difficult part was getting the colors right I was really surprised at how long it took me.  I was originally just gonna stop at an hour but it just didn't feel right to stop.  Anyways here it is:

I think that I didn't spend enough time getting just the shapes down and just throwing down color like I usually do, I started a bit tighter than I have done others in the past.  But, I'm done with it, for now, maybe I'll revisit it later when I've done a couple more; the whole photoshop thing is still really new to me and I think there are so many more tools that I can use that I just haven't learned about.
It's all a learning experience.

January 5th

Today I didn't do a word of the day picture, but I got this great idea from my friend Race about copying movie stills.  It looked so much fun so I did one from "the artist".  1 hour.

I was originally going to go for 45 min but I really wanted to finish some things, I also wanted to paint for longer but I thought that limiting myself was a better choice.  Maybe next time I'll just keep going if I want to.  Looking at it now it looks a bit too gray, and it's definitely smushed but I think that was just the size of the paper I was drawing on.  All in all it was super fun, and I can't wait to do another one.

Final Animation

I finally got around to cleaning up my desktop and finding the finals from this last semester that I wanted to put up.  One is not working unfortunately but I have my final for my 2D animation class.  The assignment was to have a flour sack interact with an inanimate object and change its emotion.
It was a good experience and I think I've come a long way from the first 2D class I've taken.
Anyways here it is:

January 4th

This is what happens when you ask your younger brother to give you words of the day.  It starts out all nice and regular, then he starts to get bored and say random things.  Todays word was "butt skittles"..... yeah.  Although I would usually tell him to change such an absurd request, I decide today to go with because I just had this funny image in my head.
So, here's today's image.
Butt Skittles.

p.s. thats a picture of my brother.

January 3rd

Todays word was "precious".  I have been sick for the past couple days and didn't really feel up for painting. So it was difficult for me to get back into it, which surprised me.  I had a really tough time thinking of an idea that wasn't the lord of the rings or the book Precious, and I got really frustrated.  But I kept at it and although I don't consider it finished I'm proud of myself for keeping at it when I wanted to just give up.
