10/13

Hey y'all I've been pretty busy this week but I've found time to help out my friend Tim with a project for his research class.  What he asked me to do was take a biggest loser photo of the before and after and add a t-shirt to the skinnier version of the man or woman then block out the biggest loser symbol on the t-shirt.  Here's one of the more challenging ones:

These probably took about 15 min for each picture and he had me do about 17 of them. - ALSO- I went drawing today after class in the art building courtyard and filled up a page; here it is:

Still Life

Our latest project in 113a is the still life black and white rendering.  And I say latest not as 'just starting now' but i've been working on it for a couple of weeks and just haven't gotten around to posting it up on this blog.  So... right now I'm just finishing up the lay-in/grey scale stage.  I still have a couple parts left to do though.  This here is the still life that I set up and is in black and white thanks to photoshop.  Our finished project is supposed to be an exact rendering of the picture so I'm pretty sure I'm going to not be sleeping for a while.  Anyways if you couldn't tell already the story of the still life is an Italian mafia dinner scene complete with some wine, spaghetti, and a little murder on the side.  All in a days work.

Sketchbook Down!

I have finally finished my summer sketchbook! Here's is the last page of drawings.
These two lovely guys are my friends Tim and Leo along with a quick sketch of a guys hairdo that I had just saw in the library.  It really was a helmet like that....Ah-mazing.
Now off to the next book can't wait :)

Catching Up

Well school has started and it's been in full swing.  All my classes have started and Im super excited to learn more about this industry.  My 113a class has been awesome but a lot of work and I can tell that it's only going to get harder.  I'm also taking Ani 55 with Sheldon Borenstein.  I love this class; his lectures are super funny and informational, I can already see a difference in my figure drawings just from this first month of classes.  The only downside to it is that it's at 8:45am on a Friday and goes till 2.  Super long and tiring but well worth it in the end.  So since I haven't been keeping up with my posting these pictures are things that I have done during this first month of school.

August 22nd

Well, I went to Philz for coffee again... Today I focused on getting the whole figure into frame so that I can use some of my drawings to pass the portfolio review this fall.  Fingers crossed. It didn't help though that when I walked in and sat down John Clapp was sitting right behind me.  I kind of felt obligated to do better and push myself now that a teacher was there.  Anyways my Philz friend Luis challenged me today with another two still lives; the bowl and cup were first and then he just HAD to give me the bicycle challenge.  It took more concentration from me because drawing bikes have always given me a hard time; but, whadya gonna do.
Some people waiting in line at Philz and underneath them are people lounging out in front of the library.

The bicycle challenge from Luis.

I got lucky and caught some kids playing volleyball out on tower lawn while I was walking back home, I just HAD to stop and draw them.

Coffee Break

Here are a couple of still life's from Philz Coffee in downtown San Jose.  My friend Luis helped me out by pointing them out to me :), thanks Luis!  Each one of these took 30 min to complete.

forgot one...

one more sketch on my san diego trip for my sister going to SDSU.

A little behind...

So I haven't been keeping up lately with my sketches. Bad on my part. But, the ones that I have done since my last post are here now.

Some sketches of my favorite characters from Law and Order: SVU on the the left. On the right are some sketches of random things on a car ride.
These are from a trip down to San Diego my brother and sister took.  Some sketches of people on the beach and some car ride sketches to pass the time on I-5 (that road is torture :/ )

Heads, Heads, and More Heads

I've been drawing heads recently, just trying to get peoples emotion and also to try out making characters from my head.  I actually really like doing it too...enjoy

Sonoma Day

Last weekend I got my wine tasting on over near downtown Sonoma with the fam.  I wasn't able to get much down but at least I drew something right? Also, fact: The camino diablo stretch on the coast (follow the bells) ends in Sonoma and it's super like historical, now you know.

Color - 6/30

Here is a pic of my brother playing video games. I really wanted to start doing something in color pencil so I'm glad I took my time with it. It really made me think about layering color to get the look. It took probably about an hour.

Late Night Drawings

So.... when my mind just won't shut up and it's time for bed I usually just stay up, pull an all-nighter, and draw.  These were done like a week ago at like 3am.

I actually think this is the best Mickey that I've ever drawn.  I'm thinking of finishing this piece with a bunch of other characters around Mickey in front of the castle or something. Also - note: Tarzan is the hardest thing to draw.

I love this scene.  I was listening to the music while drawing it, it helped me get the emotion of the scene.

And then there's Thor.  On the right is a pencil drawing from the internet and on the left is a larger version that I did early in the morning just to play with the pen.

Summer Fun

A couple of backyard drawings from my first few sunny weeks back home.

The Start of Something New

Wow!
Ok, So I have this new blog and I'm wondering what to do with it.  I've never had a blog before, BUT, there's a first time for everything.
So, I'm going to keep this one short because I have no followers yet so this is really just a filler in my page. Yeah.
Next time I'll start showing my artwork that I've been doing over the summer.
