24 hour competition

So for the past 24 hours I have been up creating a 30 second short with 4 of my very good friends.  It's our second time in the 24 hour Animation Competition but on by Prof. Aubrey Mintz, from CSU Long Beach (I believe).  Anyways I'm super proud of what our team accomplished in 24 hours, again, and can't wait to hear the results of the contest.  Without further adieu here is our film.

Places

So we are moving forward with our character design assignment for my conceptual illustration class.  The next part is to create three different areas where these characters live.  One is the abode, where one of the characters lives. The next is a common place, where all the characters meet in one form or another.  The last one is the sacred space, where the characters meet for a special purpose.  This part was a big harder than the character designing and the first place took forever get going; but once that one was done, the other came a bit quicker and easier.  We are going to pick one to build so I'm super excited to see which one i'll get to do.

Conceptual Illustration

Hey guys so classes are in full swing including my wonderous 116, conceptual illustration class.  The latest project is to create a story with characters the are based off of your own personality.  So we had to reach down into our psyches, pull out 6 different characters and make up an epic tale about them.  The catch was, there are specifics that we had to follow: 2 people had to be a different gender than you, 1 person has to have a relationship with a force of nature, 2 people have to be a different generation than you, 1 person has to be a different species, and 1 person had to be a multiple.  With these specifics in mind, I ended up creating the 6 characters and had a blast.  This was my first time doing character design and having to come up with characters from yourself that aren't really you was a challenge but I think it turned out really nicely. I set them all in 1923 Egypt/Northern Africa.  This helped me out style wise and prevented my mind from getting too imaginative.  I ended up playing with shapes a lot and I was glad that I did because it helped distinguish the characters from one another.  Anyways, enough of my blabber, if you're here you want to see art ......

Like I said, super fun and can't wait for the next step :)

Happy Labor Day (or zoo day)

Got to go to the zoo on Monday and I have to tell you, it was so nice to go to the zoo for no reason at all other than we had no school.  It wasn't as busy as I thought it was going to be which was a pleasant surprise; and I had a nice interaction with a lovely little indian girl.  She came up to me while I was sitting near the warthogs and told me she liked my drawings.  I thanked her and then I asked her if she could name all of them, and she did! 2 things were good about this interaction.  1, my drawings are readable as ACTUAL animals; and 2, I have a story to tell about the zoo :)  All in all, it was a lovely day with some of my close friends and a Labor Day well spent.

Also here's a picture of my roommate Rachel :)
